This series of encaustic works are layered images; the backgrounds were created from a 1920s wallpaper samples book. A layer of encaustic medium was applied over the backgrounds. The line drawings were printed onto thin Japanese paper and then cut out and placed onto the compositions and another layer of encaustic medium was applied. A final touch of gold foil was added to the surface of the panels.

The images offer possibilities for speculation on life and destiny, the quirky and the curious, and the fascinating possibilities that exist for the traveler.
