Wooden panels
My mixed media wooden panels are highly detailed and narrative. Wooden panels are  drawn into with a pokerwork tool with a range of tips. Then layers of Derwent  pencils add colour to the panels. And gold leaf was applied to some of the panels to add a hint of lustre reminiscent of illuminated manuscripts. and  Baroque borders of foil and decorative papers from India and Kathmandu add a reflective quality to the presentation of the work.

Photographs printed onto aluminium by a dye sublimination process are then layered with detailed linework I engrave into polycarbonate. This plate is inked with etching inks, wiped back clean and let to dry. The engraved plate is then faced towards the photograph. I have used papers from India and Kathmandu for the borders. They are glued onto acid-free cardboard and then plywood. The drypoint engravings form a graphic narrative combining primordial plant forms such as yuccas, agaves and cacti, with the visual language of imagined narratives. Magicians signal a quest, and medieval monsters are guardians of future possibilities. These works offer space and time to consider who we are as unique individuals.
