  • Embossing plates and prints
     4 December 2022
     10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Embossed printing plates can be made using opaque drawings on film, or plants, textures and fabrics placed directly on the plate surface and exposed to UV light (sunlight or UV unit).

Please bring to the workshop drawings, small plants, weeds and leaves, flattened if possible. The plate size is 15 x 10cm. If you want to do a hand-drawn embossing you will work on a piece of drafting film with opaque media. Or you can make an arrangement of your plants on the plate surface in a contact frame. We can expose in sunlight or a UV unit. The plates are then washed out in tap water, dried and post-exposed. They are then ready to print blind (no ink) to create an embossed print. We will also use a roller to add a thin layer of transparent ink on the surface of the plate and then print onto paper. You can print on a flat piece of paper or register the plate so the paper can be folded to create beautiful cards. Each participant will make one plate and make 5 cards/prints. The plate can be printed in the future as an embossing or in different coloured transparent inks.

Fee includes light lunch and all materials: $250
Maximum 4 participants. Covid-safe lunch in outdoor area, in beautiful garden setting.
